7 Rules for Writing a Great Resume

  1. Be professional.

  2. Focus on your goals. It will guide all of your decisions.

  3. Highlight your accomplishments. This is not the time to be humble.

  4. Be honest. Do not lie or even exaggerate.

  5. Quantify your strengths. That could be for your GPA or job performance.

  6. Respect your readers’ time. Be concise.

  7. Keywords matter.

I admit it, there are a lot more than seven rules. But, most of my advice can point to one of these seven rules. As you review your resume, review this list, and make sure you are following these rules.
