Linking to LinkedIn

Linking to LinkedIn

Quick “how to” posting on linking your LinkedIn profile within your resume. Your profile should be updated and should align with jobs, experience, dates highlighted on your resume. There are some added benefits to a LinkedIn profile that you should delve into as well. (But that’s for another blog.)

It’s the little things that count

Your resume header should include a link to your LinkedIn profile. Before you copy and link, make sure you have a user-friendly URL in case someone needs to type the URL instead. It’s professional and easy to do.

Step 1: Go to your LinkedIn Profile

Step 2: In the upper right hand corner, select “Edit Public Profile & URL.”

Step 3: A new tab will open and in the upper right hand corner, find the box titled “Edit URL” and click on the pencil icon. Make sure your URL is easy for someone to read. Your name is preferred but if that’s not available, try to keep as close to your name and as simple as possible.

Step 4: Save

While you’re on the page, spend some more time updating your profile. If you tackle a section at a time, it won’t take you long.
